SUSTAINABILITY ON CONSTRUCTION SITES
SUSTAINABILITY IN BUILDINGS: RESIDENTIAL CONDOMINIUMS AND BUILDINGS PRIMEGREENUSA, with its methodology and management of the project that will be built, through lectures and training, is able to train the construction team to reduce waste in losses and repairs so that the smallest possible volumes of waste are generated through actions of saving, awareness, reuse, recycling, qualification of destinations and monitoring of waste disposal. Waste management model in buildings

SUSTAINABILITY ON THE WORKSITE Waste management on the construction site
WATER REUSE IN WHEELWASHERS
After the rains, areas of exposed soil on the construction site change. The soil turns to mud and the heavy movement of machinery and trucks transports this material to various points, including around the site. In order to minimise the inconvenience, PRIMEGREENUSA concepts, with differentiation, the destination of this water with new technologies, on its construction sites a device known as the Wheel Wash, which is a point equipped with a concrete floor and effluent treatment by means of a sand and oil separator box. The system has a reuse reservoir that uses the water after treatment. As a result, there is a closed cycle in which a reduced amount of drinking water or reuse water from other systems is used to supplement losses. On a site with three towers, for example, an average of 20 trucks circulate each day, using a volume of approximately 4,000 liters of reuse water to clean the tyres
SOLAR HEATERS ON THE ROOFS OF THE SITE’S WAREHOUSES AND OFFICES
Showers are major villains when it comes to saving both water and electricity. Lack of awareness aggravates the situation because prolonged and unnecessary showers increase the water and electricity bills considerably, not to mention the environmental loss we incur. Some construction sites use solar water heating to supply the showers in the employees’ changing rooms. There are approximately 20 showers with water heated by the system, which quietly serves up to 200 baths/day. We’re talking about up to 6,000,000 liters of heated water during the construction period if all the employees showered every day on site.
AIR CONDITIONING WATER SYSTEM
The air conditioner, incredible as it may seem, is a water-saving solution. Air conditioning cools the room by passing air through a colder element (evaporator). When it encounters a cold surface, the water in the air condenses, becomes a droplet and exits through the air conditioner’s drain. It is estimated that a 12,000 BTU air conditioner removes 300ml of water per hour. Therefore, if the air conditioner is on from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the volume will be 3.6 liters. Currently, all of PRIMEGREENUSA’s projects reuse the water from the air conditioner to clean floors, windows and water the garden. This water does not need to be treated for these uses and is unsuitable for potable use. The interesting thing about all this is that we use the air conditioning unit precisely during the periods when we consume the most water, in the summer.
GREEN AREAS ON ROOFS
Plants, when placed indoors, can reduce energy consumption in air conditioning units, as their plant layer protects the environment from heat, keeping it cool throughout the day. During the construction period, the development installed a green roof over a waiting area. It was necessary to structure the roof, but it wasn’t necessary to invest much, as the wood was reused. The trays used to plant the seedlings also came from materials used to make the structure of the towers. Therefore, the only investment made was the purchase of the seedlings, a symbolic amount compared to the advantages offered by the system.
PROJECTS AND ACTIONS
THE CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABILITY IS DEALT WITH IN 4 PILLARS:
ECONOMIC
In the economic sphere, new technologies, methods and materials are changing the market and proposing actions that generate positive effects over time.
POLITICAL
PRIMEGRENNUSA strives to maintain a good relationship with all spheres of municipal, state and federal government, including urban and environmental licensing bodies, specialized police stations, regulatory agencies, public administration agents and third parties, respecting laws, rules and regulations and fulfilling the company’s duties. With competent professionals trained and specialized in environmental laws and management.
ENVIRONMENTAL
PRIMEGREENUSA takes care throughout its construction process to minimize environmental impacts, from the drawing up of the project – which seeks to make the most of natural lighting and ventilation, reducing the use of electricity – to the execution of the work. Highlights include the use of certified building materials with proven provenance, the adoption of selective waste collection, local partnerships with material recycling cooperatives, various actions against waste of water resources and electricity, the use of rainwater, the adoption of rubble recyclers, the use of low-carbon equipment and waste management.
SOCIAL
The company periodically carries out projects and actions, with the participation of its employees and the community, which benefit society in the cities where it operates. Highlights include the “One Click for the Future” project and volunteer work.
